Domestic or End of Tenancy Cleaning: Which Scope Do You Need?

Choose the service by the result and access you need, not simply by how long the property has been occupied. Domestic cleaning supports an occupied home; an end-of-tenancy booking is planned around a handover and an agreed checklist. Neither name makes every specialist task automatically included.
- Describe the condition and the required result.
- Check interiors, appliances and separate textile work explicitly.
- A cleaning guarantee does not decide the return of a tenancy deposit.

Compare the scope
| Question | Domestic cleaning | End of tenancy cleaning |
|---|---|---|
| Property use | Usually an occupied home with belongings present. | Planned around clearing and handing back the property. |
| Priorities | Agreed regular or one-off tasks. | Agreed handover checklist and required access. |
| Cupboards and appliances | Confirm the selected interiors and preparation. | Confirm checklist coverage and emptying/defrosting requirements. |
| Carpet or upholstery treatment | Ask for a separate suitable scope. | Do not assume specialist treatment is included in the base quote. |
| Result | Manage agreed cleaning tasks. | Complete agreed cleaning tasks; not a guarantee of deposit return. |
Choose by condition, access and deadline
A lightly used occupied flat may need a different plan from an empty property with accumulated grease and scale. Share the number of rooms, condition, appliances, moving date and any inventory requirements.
Compare Crown’s EOT checklist with the work you need. If cleaning yourself is practical, use the move-out checklist.
Professional cleaning and the deposit
Shelter England: cleaning requirements and deposit deductions explains the distinction between returning a property to its starting cleanliness and requiring a professional cleaning fee. For the legal context in England, use the tenant guide.
Crown’s 7-day free re-clean guarantee concerns eligible cleaning issues under the booking terms. It does not guarantee a landlord’s or deposit scheme’s decision.
Before you book
Confirm the written scope, price, access and preparation. Full payment is due before cleaning starts. Identify any separate carpet, upholstery or exterior-window work and allow for its practical requirements.
Use the preparation guide before arranging handover times.
Discuss the appropriate cleaning scope
Tell Crown whether the home is occupied or being handed back, its condition and the exact work needed so the appropriate service can be quoted.
View the service and request an assessment.
